Miracle Worker
I only watched this show because Rocio and Eddie said our hospital and one of our doctors was going to be on it. And I would have forgotten but when I called up Dan he was watching it...and the lightbulb went off.
Even though I don't know Dr. Skaggs or anyone else involved... it's a pretty awesome feeling to see another side to the story. I only get to read the MD notes.. hear some stories from the other pharmacists.. but it's interesting to get a different perspective on whats happening on the floors.
Although the first couple of minutes are a bit corny.. watching the operation on that lil boy was amazing. The whole story seems more personalized... and I always have to reflect that whenever I look at a kid's order.. there's an actual person at the other end.
But then it's funny when the show gets a bit commercialized... and this is the part where one of the nurses hands the kid a CVS prescription card that'll help alleviate her post-op prescription needs. Can't help to think... hmm.. what does CVS get out of this?? and the answer is good publicity and a dollar sign at the end of the sentence.
And that leads me to The Constant Gardener.. which I watched a couple of days ago.. big pharmaceutical companies giving medications to third world nations (specifically in Africa) ... fantastic publicity but the story behind it is these companies are also testing out their medications on 'innocent' ppl in hopes of boosting up their stock market values.
Hm. Now I'm just blabbing. *grimace*
