Asian Weddings
It's an asian tradition to give money instead of bought gifts to the wedding couple.
When I was growing up, 50 bucks per person was the norm to give. And for the longest time.. up until a few weeks ago.. even with inflation and higher costs of weddings, I thought that 50 bucks per person was still the standard to give (unless the bride and/or groom were family or close friends... in which case you give more).
Just found out that 100 bucks per person is the standard.
Wow.
Actually.. if you think about it... $100 x 200 wedding guests (that's about a small wedding) = $20,000 ... which would definitely cover wedding costs.
But then, $50 x 200 guests = $10,000 which isn't so bad either.
Money should always win out over buying gifts on a registry.
