Hard Weekend
It's the first weekend in our new home.
And it's alot to ingest.
This past week was trying to pack up some things and try to get ppl to come by the house. D made ALOT of phone calls to get ppl out to the house.
Locksmith.
I wanted to feel safe when we moved all of our stuff to the new house. And since we didn't know who had a key to the house... we needed a locksmith to come out and change all the locks. So, on Friday, D managed to get a great locksmith out. He fixed all the doors...even the old unique lock that I wanted to keep. This gave us a piece of mind.
Movers
On Friday, J was supposed to come out to help us move a few things..but he ended not being able to come out. So, D and I did at least three runs from the apartment to the new house. For Saturday, D also booked professional movers to help us with our BIG items (mattress, couch, fridge) and maybe with our other stuff. So Friday nite, I packed up the kitchen.
On Saturday, the movers came on time ...which was GREAT! ...but moving companies are such a sneaky business. They have all different kinds of hidden charges... charge for packing tape, for bubble wrap, you name it they might charge for it. All of the moving companies suggested to sign something that said that the amount we paid won't be exceeded. But, these movers wanted us to sign a form that the amount wouldn't exceed at least $800. So, the movers moved less than what we wanted. Hence, thank goodness T came out...because we did at least two runs from the apartment to our new house to move more stuff.
Cable Guy
On Saturday, the Cable Guy came out. We just transferred our service..but we might change to satellite down the road. But at least, we're able to watch TV and surf the web.
Handyman
On Saturday, my parents came out. And my dad was able to fix the garage and electronic gate. YEA!
Blessing
On Saturday, my mom blessed the whole house. This will give us a spiritual peace of mind. Thank God.
Shopping & Cleaning & Unpacking
On Sunday, we went to Home Depot (spent 3 hours in there..geez.). We literally got lost and had so many questions about stuff. Then onto Target...then to Lowe's. We spent way too much money...and it was just on the lil stuff.
The living room is at least clean...although there's stiff crap on the couch.
Animal Removal
It's crazy how much companies charge for removing a dead animal. One place quoted between $100 to $350. But thank goodness we had T...because he just went in there and got it out. I even got proud of D for going with T. I don't think D will EVER go back underneath the house..but at least he did it once. But, who knows what might get caught under there and die again.
It definitely was a busy weekend.
And there's still MORE things to check off from the list. BIG ug.
